Chelsea FC were urged by former Blues defender Scott Minto to think about a move to acquire Robert Lewandowski as a “short – term” signing..
The south west London side want a number of new players this summer because Thomas Tuchel looks to turn his side into a Premier League title challenger in the future.
The future of Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge has grown to be a hot topic after failing to create consistent form for the Blues after his move to Inter Milan in the summer.
The 29-year-old Belgium international was restricted to only sixteen starts in the Premier League and was able to score only 8 goals for the Blues in Tuchel’s very first full season in charge.
Bayern Munich forward Lewandowski has been associated with a move far from the German club in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United and FC Barcelona being credit with a desire for the 33-year-old Poland international.
Following Lukaku’s unsatisfactory return to Stamford Bridge, Minto believes that Chelsea FC ought to look for a deal to sign Lewandowski even in case it had been only a one off for the “short term.”
Minto said in a chat with talkSPORT: “I think I want to see Tuchel have a conversation with Lukaku and say: What do we have to accomplish to get the very best of you?”
“[But] it is not going to take place. We are aware of that. As Tuchel stated, it’s not about us adapting to him, but that he has to adapt to us. It clearly hasn’t happened.
In the short run, Lewandowski would be absolutely fantastic. He might be able to make do with a three even if he signed a two-year deal.
“He has been proven right now. Chelsea is all about the then and now, and has been for the last couple of decades. ”
Last season, Lewandowski was once again in outstanding form in front of the goal for Bayern, scoring 50 goals and providing six assists in 46 matches in all of competitions for the Bundesliga.
Since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund during the summer of 2014, he has scored an incredible 344 goals in 375 matches for the club..
